This may seem like a silly reminder, but you’d be surprised how often we forget to celebrate. So caught up in achieving our tasks and goals, we check one off the list, then rush ahead to complete the next. All too often, we forget to pause, pat ourselves on the back, and rejoice.
I myself am celebrating today. Exactly one year ago, I “took the leap” and closed the door on the stressful, workaholic lifestyle that I had been living for 15 years. I have to tell you, I’m never getting back on that hamster wheel again! As icing on the cake, after completely “etch-a-sketching” my original book and starting from scratch, I’ve just finished the total rewrite. Today was a big day.
To celebrate, I went and got my toes painted pink and cooked a delicious barbeque in the backyard with my neighbors. Although “Laurie Gardner’s Emancipation Day” isn’t on any calendar, I enjoyed acknowledging and sharing my own “private yay.”
So, what do you have to celebrate? What wonderful things in your life have you forgotten to rejoice about? During this holiday weekend commemorating our country’s independence, I hope you take time to clink your glass and celebrate yourself. Cheers to you!
